Indian Kosher Food
The laws of kashrut, Jewish dietary law, are very complex and full of interpretations. I will try to address this another time. Just to make things simple, there are two basic principles:- Not eating pork, shellfish or other unkosher animals
- Not mixing dairy and meat
In Brazil there are not many good kosher restaurants and my first experience in New York was terrible! My husband took me to a place in the Lower East Side and I hated the food! I ended up eating a potato pancake that was hard and cold.
However, a couple of weeks ago, one of my dearest friends invited me to go with her to an Indian cooking class at Makor. We learned how to cook three delicious vegetarian kosher dishes! It was refreshing and invigorating. After this enjoyable cooking experience, I realized that it is not so hard to follow the Jewish dietary law after all.
