Chopped Liver anyone?
Sometimes I get very surprised by B. He asked me to cook chicken liver for his birthday. Have you ever cooked chicken liver??? Have ever you seen one??? I have only one word to describe it: disgusting! The color, consistency URGH … Let’s face it: one needs a lot of love to accept such a challenge.Well, my next step was finding a good recipe. I went to foodnetwork.com and found a five star rated recipe for chopped chicken liver. Did you know that there are lots of tablespoons of chicken fat in this dish? I mean pure fat! This is against my eating standards. Therefore, I started looking online to find something to use as a substitute. After some time, I realized that the secret lays on the schmaltz (chicken fat). I decided to ignore this and I changed the recipe anyway adding olive oil and butter instead. It worked and tasted great! B. ate everything and was really happy about it. I hope he will not ask this again next year; if he does, I will have to ask for Fresh Direct’s support.
